About the Event
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has taken initiatives to promote intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness and protection among startups, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial for fostering innovation and economic growth. As part of this initiative, MeitY is organising an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) workshop tailored specifically for startups and MSMEs. The workshop seeks to address key aspects related to intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and to raise awareness about the MeitY International Patents filling scheme, "Support for International Patent Protection in Electronics and Information Technology."

Dr. Rajkumar Hirwani
Head of IP Directorate in CSIR and Director of CSIR’s Unit for R&D of Information Products
Dr. Rajkumar Hirwani has 40+ years of experience in Research, Technology and IP
Management. He was Head of IP Directorate in CSIR and Director of CSIR’s Unit for R&D of
Information Products. He was a member of World Bank Consultancy Team for Strengthening
of R &D Institutions in China and Indonesia as well as on the panel of UNCTAD. He has won
many national awards and honours. He was President of Licensing Executive Society India
and is a member of several CSIR and government committees. He has a Bachelor’s degree in
Chemical Technology from UDCT and Ph.D in Technology Management from IIT Bombay.
He was a Fulbright Scholar and was recipient of Hubert Humphrey Fellowship in Technology
Policy and Management. Currently he is Adjunct Professor at IIT, Bombay.
